Has anyone else been sucked down the cottagecore hole on TikTok? Those 60-second videos are really trying to convince me that I need to pack my suitcase and go live like Anne at Green Gables! Oh, what is cottagecore, you ask? Well, think of your traditional grandmother-esqe activities, but you do them in a whimsical, forest cottage! Wa-La! You’ve got cottagecore! As much as I’d like to channel my inner grandma, I’m a career gal whose veins are filled with coffee just to keep me operating. Thankfully, Kimzey’s has me covered! Kimzey’s is the perfect cottagecore coffee shop to experience escapism and productivity simultaneously! Obviously, I had to do a Coffee Crawl on Kimzey’s, so here we go!
Location
Kimzey’s Coffee is located off of US-377 in Argyle, Texas. Argyle is only roughly 15 mins down the road from Denton, so if you’re a UNT or TWU student, this is a coffee shop for you! In addition, conveniently located next to Kimzey’s, is the original Gnome Cone stand as well! I know, I know. This is a Coffee Crawl, but y’all seriously have to try Gnome Cones! Trust me it’s worth it. Ok, now back to coffee…
If you’re planning on swinging by this cottage coffee shop in rural America, make sure it is between their hours of 6:30-6:00 Monday thru Friday, or 7:30-6:00 Saturday & Sunday.
Appearance
While all aspects of Kimzey’s are scathingly brilliant, the aesthetic of the place is certainly the most defining characteristic. You are going to think you’ve entered a Disney fairytale when you park at Kimzey’s with the whimsical and enchanting architecture (and landscape architecture!) of the building.
The whole exterior of the building resembles an adorable cottage, and with the native Texas plant palette, there is almost always something in bloom. Trust me, I now understand how Hansel and Gretel were lured into the witch’s cottage… but don’t worry! There’s no witch at Kimzey’s! Only very nice baristas.
In addition, There is a nice patio space with ample seating. Plus, if you decide you want to read while sipping on a cup of Joe, there is even a “Free Library” box on the patio.
Once inside, you’ll be greeted with bright windows, woodland creature painting, and lots of comfy seating. Personally, I am a sucker for window seats, and Kimzey’s does not disappoint! Speaking of seats, there is a wide variety of different seating arrangements. No matter what your butt feels like sitting in that day, they’ll have the option.
The Menu
Now, to the important part. The coffee, of course! Kimzey’s serves West Oak Coffee beans, and boy do they know how to brew them! Here is just a shortlist of my top things to order:
- Iced Cold Brew Coffee: Y’all, you won’t even need sugar for this coffee. It tastes sweet all on its own. Yes, that’s right, black coffee tasting sweet! This is by far the smoothest cup of coffee I’ve ever had. However, if you’re feeling frisky, you can actually get this Cold Brew Coffee with a scoop of Beth Marie’s ice cream added. Who needs creamer when you have Beth Marie’s, am I right?
- Iced Yam Spiced Latte: We all know and love the pumpkin spice latte, but Kimzey’s Yam Spiced Latte is out of this world! Now granted, I do come from an area of Texas that has a week-long Yam festival, so there is potential bias. It tastes similar to the Classic PSL.
- Avacado Muffin: I know, your first thought reading “Avacado” & “Muffin” together is “Umm..”, but trust me when I say that this muffin is so sweet and delicious. It tastes similar to a warm sugar cookie with melted butter in muffin form. Plus, it is reasonably priced! While most coffee shops have good pastries, they are often overpriced. Not at Kimzey’s though!
I hope you check out Kimzey’s, and if you do please let me know what you ordered! If you want to check out some other cool coffee shops around DFW be sure to check out my other Coffee Crawl posts! Plus be on the lookout for some more coffee crawl posts that are brewing!
