The Ultimate Denton Mural Guide

Hey guys! Last year, I moved to Denton, Texas, home of the Mean Green UNT Eagles and the TWU Pioneers! I love living here! Denton has all the fun quirks of Austin, without the insane traffic and city stress. If you know anything about Austin, Texas, then you know murals are a large element! In fact, you can go on mural tours around the city to get cute pictures for the ‘gram! Do you know where else has adorable murals? Why Denton of course! Driving to work alone, I easily pass by ten murals. The murals across town are all created by local artists and really celebrate the flavor of Denton! I wanted to share my Ultimate Denton Mural Guide, so you know all the places to go to get the cutest #dentoning Instagram picture!

While this is the Ultimate Denton Mural Guide, it is not a comprehensive list of ALL the murals in town. Luckily Discover Denton, has you covered! After downloading their app, just go to “Things to do”, maps, and search murals. A map will then be displayed that shows the location of the different Denton murals & who painted them!

Crooked Crust

101 Ave. A

To kick this Denton mural guide off right, we begin at the Crooked Crust Pizza along Fry Street. Fry is the big party street in town, so if you’re out with friends at night time and want to gram some cute picture and some delicious pizza, then this is the street to be on!

119 Avenue A.

Ok, this mural is one of my personal favorites because there are so many beautiful components to it!

Tom’s Daiquiri Place

I am sure all of my trumpet friend’s from high school are cringing at my air trumpet…

Day of the Dead Denton Mural

Here in Denton, we have a Day of the Dead Festival that involves coffin races! Yes, you read that right! This Denton Mural is located at the finish line!

South Locust Street Denton Mural

Denton Mural

Not so much a Denton Mural, as it is a way to cover the empty lot on the Square where a building burned dow a few years ago. This cheetah gave me so many Samba de Amigo vibes that I just had to strike a pose with him!

Customer’s Request Denton Mural

There are so many elements going on in this Denton mural it’s hard to know where to even begin! I’m digging the little unicorns!

Dime Store Window

118 E. McKinney St.

This location isn’t technically a mural, but the Denton Dime Store always has the best window art. You can always count on being able to take a cute Instagram picture in front of their store. Plus, you can hope in and buy some really neat arts and crafts from local artists!

Purple Door

Purple door Denton

You might be asking yourself why there isn’t an address on this mural. “Michelle, did you forget the location?!” Nope! This iconic purple door is a scavenging phenomenon in Denton. You can’t truly call yourself a Dentonite, until you have found this door. Don’t worry though, I’ll give you a hint: It’s in walking distance from all the other murals! Great hint, right? Haha!

Are you convinced that you want to go on a mural tour of Denton now after reading this Ultimate Denton Mural Guide? Which mural is your favorite? If you’ve ever been to Denton & taken an Instagram picture in front of one of these epic walls, tag my Instagram in the picture so that I can give you a like!

Thanks for reading y’all!
